Guide for Authors

Author Guidelines

Initial Conditions for Manuscript Acceptance

a. The journal of Wisdom and Modern Governance (WMG) reserves full discretion in accepting or rejecting submissions and in making scientific and editorial revisions.

b. Submitted manuscripts must not have been previously presented, published elsewhere, or simultaneously submitted to other journals.

c. Since all English-language manuscripts are initially screened for similarity through the iThenticate system, authors are strongly encouraged to verify the originality of their manuscripts via this system prior to submission to expedite the peer-review process.

d. The journal declines to consider new submissions from authors who already have another manuscript under review that has not yet been published.

Conditions for Articles Derived from Other Works

If the manuscript is derived from any of the following sources, the author must explicitly disclose full and accurate details of the original work:

a. Thesis (full title, supervisor’s name, defense date, and host university)
b. Research project (full project title, implementation date, project collaborators, and affiliated institution)
c. Oral presentation at a conference or congress (full name of the event, date, and organizing institution)

Failure to provide this information may result in disciplinary action by the journal at any stage of the publication process.

Manuscript Submission Process

a. Authors must submit manuscripts exclusively through the journal’s online submission system after completing registration. Submissions sent via email or in printed form will not be processed.

b. The corresponding author must first register in the journal’s submission system through the “Submit Article” section.

c. Authors must monitor all stages of the manuscript evaluation process solely through their personal dashboard on the journal’s platform.

Accepted Article Types and Formats

a. The journal accepts only manuscripts that present original research outcomes and contain novel findings.

b. The journal does not accept purely review articles, compilations, reports, or translations.

Required Files at Submission (by the Corresponding Author)

Required files to upload: Authors must submit the following five essential files through the manuscript submission system: 1. Main Manuscript File (without the author details and prepared based on the provided template. 2. Title Page, 3. Authorship Form (must include the article title, full names of all authors, and be signed by all authors), 4. Conflicts of Interest Form (must be signed by the Corresponding Author and uploaded with the Main Manuscript File), and 5. Cover Letter (Please include any necessary information in the cover letter.)

Note: Submission for peer review is contingent upon the upload of all four required files and accurate completion of metadata in the system.

Final formatting: The final version of the accepted manuscript must be submitted in the journal’s official template. Manuscripts not conforming to this requirement will not be processed for publication.

Manuscript Length and Structure

a. Word count: 5,000–7,500 words
b. Keywords: 4–10 terms
c. Abstract: 200–350 words, clearly stating the research objective, core problem or research question, methodology, and key findings.

Author Identification and Affiliation

a. In multi-authored manuscripts, the corresponding author must be clearly identified by labeling their name with “(Corresponding Author)”.

b. The individual who submits the manuscript will be designated as the corresponding author and will be the sole point of contact for all editorial communication.

c. No modifications are permitted after submission to:
– Submission and acceptance dates
– Author names or their order
– Institutional affiliations

Author affiliations must precisely follow one of the formats below:

a. Academic staff: Academic rank (Instructor, Assistant Professor, Associate Professor, Professor), Department, University, City, Country, and institutional email.
b. Students: Degree level (B.A., M.A., Ph.D.), field of study, university, city, country, and institutional email.

d. Seminary students: Level (2, 3, or 4), field of study, seminary institution, city, country, and institutional email.

Manuscript Structure

The main body of the manuscript must include, in the following order:

  1. Title
  2. Persian Abstract: Clearly stating the research problem/question, objective, methodology, and key findings
  3. Introduction: Defining the research problem, reviewing relevant literature (in both Persian and English), justifying the study’s significance, and explaining the novelty of the research
  4. Main Body: Detailed exposition and analysis of core arguments or findings
  5. Conclusion: Author’s discussion and analytical synthesis

  7. References: Formatted strictly according to the 7th edition of the APA Publication Manual, as detailed on the journal’s website.

Footnotes, In-text Citations, and References (APA 7th Edition Summary)

The APA style includes four core elements: author(s), publication year, title of work, and source. A period ends each element, except when a DOI or URL follows the source—no period should follow a DOI or URL.

  1. Journal Article
    – Format:
Surname, Initials; Surname, Initials; … (Year). Article title. Journal Title in Italics, Volume in Italics(Issue), page range. https://doi.org/xxxx

    – Notes:
    • “Issue” refers to the issue number within the volume, not the serial number.
    • If a DOI exists, it must be included—even if citing a print version.
    • Always prefix DOIs with “https://doi.org/” to ensure hyperlink functionality.

    – Example (Reference List):
Tameskbi-Gelaki, A., & Mousavi, S. M. (2018). The scope of Muhammadan revelation in the verses of Surah al-Najm according to exegetes. Comparative Exegesis Research, 3(1), 201–225. https://doi.org/10.22091/ptt.2017.2060.1165

    – In-text citation examples:
    According to Tameskbi-Gelaki and Mousavi (2018), A is B (p. 220).
    A is B (Tameskbi-Gelaki & Mousavi, 2018, p. 220).

    – Additional rules:
    • For works with three or more authors, cite only the first author followed by “et al.”
    • Multiple references in one parenthesis are separated by semicolons.
    • Use “p.” for a single page and “pp.” for multiple pages.
  2. Book
    – Format:
Surname, Initials. (Year). Book title in italics (Editor/Compiler name(s), Ed. or Comp.). Publisher.

    – Notes:
    • Publisher location is not required in APA 7th edition.
    • Use “Q” for Hijri year, “M” for Gregorian, and no marker for Solar Hijri (e.g., 1396).
    • “n.d.” = no date; “n.p.” = no publisher.
  3. Translated Book
    – Format:
Original Author, Initials. (Year of translation). Translated book title (Translator name, Trans.). Publisher. (Original work published YYYY [Q/M]).

    – In-text citation includes both years: (Original Author, YYYY Q/YYYY translation).
  4. Thesis/Dissertation
    – Unpublished:
Author, Initials. (Year). Thesis title [Unpublished doctoral/master’s thesis]. University Name.
    – Published in a database (e.g., IranDoc):
Author, Initials. (Year). Thesis title [Doctoral/master’s thesis, University Name]. Database Name. URL
  5. Web Source
    – Format:
Author, Initials. (Year, Month Day). Page/article title. Site Name. URL
    – In-text citation includes only the year.

Secondary Citations
When citing a source you have not directly accessed (i.e., cited through another work), format as:
(Original Author, Year, as cited in Secondary Author, Year).
Only the secondary source appears in the reference list.

Repeated Citations
The APA style does not use “ibid.” or similar terms. Re-cite the author(s) and year each time, unless the author’s name appears in the narrative of the same paragraph, then the year need not be repeated within that paragraph.

Punctuation with Citations
– For regular sentences: the period comes after the citation parenthesis.
– For block quotes (≥40 words): the period comes before the citation parenthesis.

Multiple Works by the Same Author in the Same Year
Differentiate with lowercase letters (a, b, etc.) after the year: (Jahangiri, 2023a), (Jahangiri, 2023b). Apply the same label in the reference list.

Final Notes
– In the English-language References section, only initials (with periods) are used for first and middle names.
– The Quran, if cited, should appear at the beginning of the reference list.
– No numbering, bullets, or dashes should precede the reference list entries.
